Who is behind Drains 4 Brighton?

Danny Ozoum, a drainage engineer. He answers the phone himself and he is the one who turns up, so nobody gets handed down a chain of subcontractors from a national call centre. What we do, and what we don't

We clear blocked drains. Sinks, toilets, baths and showers, outside gullies, shared and combined runs, commercial drains. The work is done with rods, high-pressure water jetting, or by hand, depending on what is in the pipe and how much room there is to get at it.

The service stays narrow on purpose. If your drain turns out to need something beyond clearance, Danny will tell you, and point you somewhere useful rather than sell you work he does not do.

Why local knowledge matters in Sussex

Sussex drains do not all behave the same way. Chalk under the Downs sheds water quickly and then overloads the gullies below the scarp. Wealden clay inland does the opposite: it holds water, and old soakaways come under strain. On the coast the gullies fill with sand, salt and shingle carried up off the beach. Brighton's Victorian terraces have a problem of their own, which is the shared run, where one blockage backs up into several houses at once. Danny is in these drains every week, so he usually turns up with a fair idea of what he will find.
